Installation & Help

First ensure that you uninstall any previous versions of Desk Quote Professional installations on your computer,after carrying out the uninstall process also delete the folder name Desk Quote Professional in either C:/Program Files directory or C:/ Program Data directory.

Customers using older Windows versions  ie : Windows XP, that are experiencing some issues during setup and installation,please contact us using our Contact Us Web Form and we will be happy to help.

In the Networked Version of Desk Quote, the folder Desk Quote Pro holds your back end files and all your important company data. We disallow automatic deletion of this folder for security reasons and to prevent users from accidentally deleting the folder through the windows uninstall feature so you will have to delete this folder manually.

If you have previously downloaded the single User Version of this software {un-networked version} this will not apply to you, just uninstall as normal.The Desk Quote Download file is approx 88-98meg in size after downloading check the file size prior to setup to ensure that your internet connection was not interupted during the download.

 If your computer is running Office 2010 and have Access 2010 installed, please uninstall Access 2010 before installing Desk Quote Professional. Click here for instructions on how to uninstall MS Access 2010 from your MS Office installation.


If you encounter the Please Activate Software Screen on starting Desk Quote, you will need to click OK and activate the software


You will then have a choice to activate over the internet or manually activate, please select your activation method.

After downloding, run the Desk Quote Professional V7.0.1.exe SETUP icon (Fig 1) on your desktop to start the installation process. Follow the instructions on the screen to install Desk Quote on your computer.

If you have downloaded the Single User Version (Un-Networked Version) Skip this section and go to the LOG IN FORM title below.

Our Networked Version of Desk Quote Professional consists of a Front End and a Back end. The Back end of Desk Quote Professional holds all your valuable data and is linked to the front end. During the original installation Desk Quote Professional automatically links the front end with the back end. The installation path for a computer running Windows XP is " C:\Program Files " and the installation path for computers running Windows 7 and Vista is C:\Program Data.

When starting Desk Quote Professional if desk quote cannot automatically link to your back end a popup form will be loaded as illustrated in fig 3 below. Follow the instructions in the popup form to search and save the path of your back end tables.

First Click on the Search Button and locate the file " Desk Quote Professional_be .accdb " after locating the file click on the save button, Desk Quote will then link all your back end data tables to your Desk Quote front end.

The same procedure applies to the Work Station version, after installing Desk Quote Work Station Version on your networked PC , use the pop up form (Fig 3) to locate the back end files " Desk Quote Professional_be .accdb " on your server and click on save to carry out the linking process.


To locate your Program Data folder on computers running Windows Vista and Windows 7, you must first go to your Folder Options and select the toggle button Show Hidden Files and folders. Follow the instructions below to show your hidden files.

Follow these steps to display hidden files and folders.

  1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_47.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

  2. Click the View tab.

  3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

You will then see your Program Data folder, the folder Desk Quote Professional is housed in this folder. "Program Data"

If you experience any difficulties in the linking of the front end to the back end please pop us a email or telephone us for assistance. We offer a free remote service were one of our trained staff can log on remotely to your computer and help setup the trial software for you.

If Desk Quote Professional front end cannot correctly locate the back end tables it will fail on startup .


Make a note of the Log In details below, you will need this login information to log in to the trial. 

The password field is case sensitive, please make sure you enter the password exactly as above with the capital P in Password.

Your Log In Details are:

Username = admin
Password = Password1

The user name and password can be changed later in the admin panel. The admin panel will allow the administrator to create users and passwords for all staff members.

The Log In form illustrated in Fig 4 below shows the main Log In form where the log in details above will be entered.

After Log In the desk Quote Switch Board form will appear click on the Continue Button as illustrated in Fig 5 below to continue .
